Product: HP Deskjet F4480
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Just brought this printer out of storage, replaced the ink, and fired it up. As we tried to print an orange light immediately started flashing and an ! appeared above a paper icon on the screen. We tried to figure out what was wrong but nothing was fixing the problem. Any help would be appreciated!

@gcbs, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Check and re-insert the ink cartridges. Make sure the protective tape from the ink cartridge is removed.
