For the past short while, the small business I work for has a HP PageWide MFP Pro 577dw that has been dripping and smearing ink onto the printed pages, but not the pages in the tray.
The Cartridges are not leaky, and the printhead connectors are clean. Opening the Left door shows no leaking ink there, either. All "software" printer cleanings have been undertaken as prescribed in the User's manual (Printhead Clean 1, Printhead Clean 2) and minor maintenance. The model has been discontinued and the warranty is long past date, so I am unsure of how to proceed. There are no error messages, paper jams, or other misprinting issues.
It is an old printer (nearly 6 years!), but I would like to be sure of the issue before we replace such a significant investment. From other posts in the forum, I have gathered that it is likely an issue with leaking or broken pieces in the printhead assembly, which can be a pricey fix.
I need suggestions for next steps, do I call a technician? disassemble it myself? contact HP support?
