Help. Three of the ink cartridges were getting low, and one was fine. I took them out and added drops of ink to the ink pad at the bottom of the cartridge. After replacing them, the printer now tells me that ALL cartridges are 'critically low' and it does not print colors. This morning's message is that my cartridges are counterfeit in addition to critically low....and still not printing colors. How can I disconnect the computer chip readouts on the cartridges, and will this help? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the information...although I don't like it. : (
I know that the cartridges are full, the printer message says that they are not and that the cartridges are counterfeit (they are the original HP cartridges) , and now the printer will no longer print colors....I have to believe that the chips are controlling the ink output. This is deceptive and controlling. I own the printer, cartridges and the ink I put in them. But, once the printer registers the ink level, there is no going back!
