HP DeskJet 1112
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I installed the HP Easy Start software on my Mac (OS X 10.12.6 Sierra) and when I do a test print I keep getting an error message that reports: "Inkjet1 quit unexpectedly." I skipped the test and tried to print a PDF, and got the same error.

I've uninstalled the HP Easy Start, reinstalled it, confirmed that I don't have software updates, etc, but nothing is working. My printer also does not seem to have firmware to update either.

Any advice?

Hi @cbertrand09,

I'd like to help!

Try updating mac and printer firmware

To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

To better assist you - Is there an antivirus software installed on your Mac? If yes, please try disabling it and check if it works.

While you respond to that, go to System Information to check the if the USB is detected or not -

a.) From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.

b.) Click System Report.

c.) Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB. USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus.

If the device is not detected, it may not be receiving enough power or it may be blocked by internet security software. You may also try other ports on the hub or a different cable.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for getting back to me, but none of those items helped me.

There is not a firmware updated for my printer HP Deskjet 1112 with a Mac 0s 10.12.

My Mac software is up to date.

I don't have an antivirus program running.

I also check the system information and under the USB hardware I can see the printer showing up under USB 2.0 Bus.

Try the below steps to resolve the issue -

  • Restart the printer and the computer: Restarting the computer and the printer can clear possible error conditions.

  • Reconnect the cable: Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable from the printer and the computer.

  • Connect to a different USB port: Connect the cable to a different USB port on the computer.

  • Disconnect from a USB hub or docking station: If you are using a USB hub or docking station, try connecting the cable directly to the computer.

  • Try a different USB cable: Use a different USB cable. HP supports USB cables less than 3 m (9 ft 10 in) in length.

  • Disconnect other USB devices: If you have several USB-connected devices, such as another printer, the computer might not have sufficient power supplied to the USB ports to detect all of them. Disconnect any other USB devices that are not in use.

Let me know how this goes!
