HP OfficeJet 5260
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have purchased HP OfficeJet 5260 brand new printer. I used the ink cartridges that come with the printer. On the cartridges appear the statement "Instant Ink Ready".

When I started to setup the printer, I received a message on the printer screen: "Only one set of HP Instant Ink Ready cartridges can be used in a printer. Remove and replace with other cartridges."

As those two cartridges are the HP ones that come with the printer, and as they are not for trial, the "instant ink ready" error message should not appear.

Should I purchase new ink cartridges, even though on my first initial use of the brand new printer?

Welcome to HP Support Community

Please disable web service on the printer and also ensure the printer has the latest Firmware

Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

1. On the printer click on the Web Services icon in the top left corner of the display.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Remove/Disable/Turn Off  Web Services.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions

Then remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts with a lint free cloth

- Turn on the printer.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer and clean the electrical contacts with a lint free cloth
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

Thank you
