Is there a phone number to actually speak with a live person in support? If so, what is it?

You can get a contact number for your region by submitting a case to HP Support.

After the case is submitted, contact information is displayed on your screen.

That said,

Standard hardware warranty is limited to certain failures of the device hardware as outlined / included in the Warranty contract.  Reference:  HP Limited Warranty Statements | HP® Official Site

 

Software is not generally included in the standard Warranty except perhaps during the period right after initial purchase.  If there are exceptions, they are noted in the contract or are decided by HP Support.

 

If the device is not in Warranty, then support from HP Technical Support is generally fee based (not free).  Exceptions are decided by HP Support.

short answer, no. if your product is out of warranty, you are condemned to the eternal virtual agent hades where my experience is to never be issued a case number much less talk to a human. the other option is the purgatory of community support where basically the unplugging your printer and installing firmware seems to be the only solution for all the 5258 ills. I hope your issue gets resolved.
