Having issues with my HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e printer today. It is on but will not print out my emails. Keeps coming up with an error message (Error code: 403 Forbidden). I can go to the actual website where I purchased the items I was ordering and it will print out the order from there, but will not print it out from my emails. Never happened before. What's going on & how do I fix it?

Hi @PEGGIE47,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e is powered on and ready, but when you try to print an email, it throws a 403 Forbidden error, even though it prints fine from other websites. Let’s walk through this calmly and clearly.

What’s Likely Happening

The 403 Forbidden error typically means the printer or the app you're using to print (like HP Smart or your browser) is blocked from accessing the email content, often due to:

  • Email security settings
  • Browser restrictions
  • Outdated printer firmware or app
  • Authentication issues with cloud services (like Gmail or Outlook)

Steps to Fix the Issue

1. Try Downloading the Email as a PDF First

  • Open the email in your browser.
  • Click Print, then choose “Save as PDF”.
  • Open the saved PDF and print it using HP Smart or Adobe Reader.

This bypasses any web-based restrictions and usually works smoothly.

2. Update HP App and Printer Firmware

  • Open the HP app.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Printer Updates.
  • Make sure your printer is running the latest firmware.

3. Check Email Client or Browser Settings

  • If you're printing from Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo:
    • Try using a different browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
    • Disable browser extensions like ad blockers or privacy filters.
    • Sign out and sign back into your email account.

4. Use HP App “Print Anywhere” Feature

If you're printing remotely or from a mobile device:

  • Make sure Print Anywhere is enabled in the HP app.
  • Sign in with your HP account and verify the printer is online.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
