Hi @LadyDee123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series printer indicates the output bin is full, but it's not, and there's no paper stuck, the issue usually involves sensor errors or software problems. Here's a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot this issue:

Reset the Printer: Start by turning the printer off, then disconnect it from the power source for about a minute. Reconnect and turn the printer back on. This can help reset any error states in the printer.

Check for Invisible Paper Jams: Sometimes, even if it doesn’t look like it, there can be tiny pieces of paper or debris stuck in the printer that are triggering the sensor. Check inside the printer thoroughly, using a flashlight to look for small pieces of paper or debris.

Clean the Paper Path Sensors: Dust or paper fiber can cover the sensors, causing false readings. Locate the paper path sensors (refer to the printer manual for exact locations) and gently clean them with a soft, lint-free cloth or a compressed air blower.

Update Printer Firmware: Firmware updates often resolve hardware miscommunication issues. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your printer model and follow the instructions to update.

Check Sensor Lever: Some printers have a mechanical lever to detect the paper level in the output tray. Ensure this lever moves freely and isn’t stuck.

Reinstall Printer Drivers: Corrupted printer drivers can cause various issues. Uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
