@Nidd, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e is not printing in color, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels

  • On the printer control panel, swipe right → tap SuppliesInk Cartridges.
  • Ensure all color cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) have sufficient ink.
  • If any cartridge is low or empty, replace it with a genuine HP 923 or 923e cartridge.

Inspect Print Settings

  • On your computer, open the document/photo → press Ctrl + P → go to Printer Properties.
  • Under Color tab, ensure Print in Grayscale is disabled.
  • Set Print Quality to Best and Media Type to match your paper.
  • For macOS: Click File > Print > Show Details, then enable Print in Color

Run Print Quality Diagnostic Report

  • On the printer: Home screen → Menu > Utilities > Tools > Reports > Print Quality Diagnostic Report.
  • Check for missing colors, streaks, or faded boxes.
  • If issues are found, proceed to clean and align the printhead.

Clean and Align Printhead

  • On the printer: Menu > Utilities > Tools > Troubleshooting > Print Quality.
  • Run Printhead Cleaning and Alignment tools.
  • Use plain white paper for best results.

Check Paper Type

  • Use high-quality paper like HP Advanced Photo Paper or ColorLok paper.
  • Ensure the print side is facing down in the tray.
  • Avoid wrinkled or curled paper.

Replace Cartridges if Needed

  • If cleaning and alignment don’t help, try replacing the color cartridges.
  • Only use genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues.
