Product: HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - E709n
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
The small (approx. 60mm x 15mm) LCD control text display on my 'HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - E709n' is completely illegible, which makes it impossible to read and access such control features such as copier contrast, enlarge/reduce, etc.
I found a DIY repair tutorial video on YouTube that involved using a hair dryer to reheat the ribbon cable connections between the LCD display and the circuit board, then carefully pressing on them. I tried this a few times, but it did not improve the display legibility at all. It may have even made it worse, but it was unreadable beforehand anyway.
1. Is there any other fix or possible? Can I purchase a replacement control panel circuit board? The printer is circa 2009, so it may not be worth an expensive repair; but, otherwise, it is still functioning perfectly.
2. Is it possible to obtain the various sequences for control panel 'button presses' for the various printer features that normally rely on instructions displayed on the LCD screen?
