This printer just tonight has started malfunctioning. As the picture indicates, there is a problem on the left of the page. Here I show the result of a cleaning process output and one other document, both in error around the same region of the page. The cartridges are HP brand and very new, all four of them. I printed out a diagnostics page (not shown), and I see that the error is not simply in black but the three other cartridges as well. What can I do to fix this printer?
Somehow I think I have perhaps discovered a clue in understanding the problem. I took out the toner cartridges and looked inside with a flash light, and I found something stuck. This strip of clear rubber was lodged between a roller and its frame. It must be a part of the printer, but where does it belong?
the spot where the clear strip was lodged
this was stuck in the printer
Finally, I just put the toner back in and turned it on, and it seems to work well again, but where does this thing go, and should I put it back somewhere?

So I think that the problem has gone away. The piece that must have fallen off of the insides of the machine Was blocking The feed. I put all the cartridges back in and now the printer works fine.

The piece you pulled out looks like a catcher blade out of a cartridge. If you start having toner dumping issues you will need to replace the cartridge.
