Laser Jet M110w. Error message is Printer is NOT turned on. However, the Green power indicator light is on. I have rebooted the computer and printer numerous times. The printer is connected to my Lenovo as laptop as default via USB running MS software (don't recall the version). I've been using the printer in this configuration for about a year with no issues until today.

I have run the Trouble Shooter command multiple times but get the same "printer is turned off" message.

Did you recently install any USB drivers used to communicate with a smartphone or tablet?

Possibly an app replaced the USB driver with one that is not fully compatible with Windows or MacOS

try Print and scan doctor

it can fix problems with the wrong usb driver or possibly explain the problem better.

Some other things to try

Use a different USB port.  Try a different USB cable.

If using a hub, connect the printer directly to the laptop.

Check the USB cable ends and connectors for debris or damage.  Make sure it is securely in place at both ends.

===try this procedure

Disconnect the USB from the laptop and power down the laptop.

Remove printer power cable from wall outlet. If cable has a transformer then unplug cable from printer.

Press power button on printer a few times then reconnect.

Reset printer as described here

Turn on laptop and log into windows.

Insert USB cable.  You should hear a beep and the device manager should show the printer device connected.

If it does not show up let me know and we can try a Wi-Fi connection.  If the Wi-Fi works then the USB port was damaged.  Could be static discharge, surge, or some other failure.  Laptops have more protection on USB than printers but that is my opinion.

I assume you did not sign up for instant ink or change out all the HP ink cartridges for 3rd party ink.

If the printer has the wrong ink, it will not print, but will still show up as being online and will be in the device manager.
