Printer just all of a sudden wont print. It is receiving the data, acts like its about to print, you hear it start and then just stops. It does the same thing whether using the usb wire plugged from the printer to my computer and /or if I use the wireless printing option. I have tried printing from my email, various other apps as well as the internet. Same thing. The data is sent, you see it say, connected to printer, printing etc, it starts, you hear the wheels in the printer begin as if it is going to load paper and print, but then it just stops and does not do anything.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer numerous times
I have unplugged everything multiple times for multiple minutes etc.
I have updated my computer operating system
I have updated Illustrator, the program I am attempting to print from
I have tried other apps and other programs (internet, email etc)
My printer and the computer are on the same network
I have updated the printer firmware
I have removed the printer and re added the printer again multiple times
Test prints work fine from the printer
I have run printer self diagnostics and reports also and prints fine
But it will not complete the actual printing when sent from the computer
The printer will print from a USB plugged into the computer. The printer will also print from the HP app when downloaded on the computer.
I do not want to print using the app. There is no need for me to use the app nor is there a desire to use it. I do not want to have to log into an account to print nor do I desire any of the features that HP attempts to sell me in order to print through the app.
I never needed to use the app before in order to print from this mac. It seems that now I do???

@DeBruce, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you've gone through a lot of troubleshooting already, but I can see why you’re frustrated with the printer issue. Based on the information you’ve shared, here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the problem and print directly without using the HP app.
Check the printer queue.
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
Select your printer and click on Open Print Queue.
If there are any jobs in the queue, delete or cancel them.
Reference: HP printers - Print jobs stuck in print queue (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Reset the Printing System:
Resetting the printing system on your Mac will remove all printers and scanners, and reconfigure everything from scratch. This might help clear out any corrupted settings or issues that are causing the print job to fail.
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the printer list on the left.
Select Reset Printing System from the context menu.
After the reset, re-add your printer by clicking the + button and following the prompts.

Check for Incorrect Printer Driver:
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
Select your printer and click Options & Supplies.
Alternatively, go to HP’s website and download the latest drivers for your specific printer model. Once installed, re-add the printer.
Check for AirPrint vs. Local Printer Driver:
To ensure that you're printing with the correct driver:
Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
Remove your printer and then re-add it.
When adding it back, make sure to choose the correct driver (not AirPrint) in the Use dropdown. Select Software... and choose the appropriate printer driver from the list.
Test Printing with Another User Account:
There might be some permissions or configuration issue with your user account that’s preventing the print job from being completed properly.
To test printing from a different user:
Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
Create a new user account.
Log in to that new account and try printing a document.
If the printer works fine from the new account, the issue is likely with your original account’s settings or permissions. You could then try deleting and recreating your user account or simply adjusting the printer settings within the old account.
It’s understandable you want to print directly without using the HP app. Based on your description, it seems like something is interfering with the communication between your Mac and the printer via normal means. Since test prints work fine from the printer itself, the issue seems to be on the communication or driver side. Try the steps above, especially checking for proper drivers, resetting the printing system, and testing the printer with a different user account.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
