Hi @shelleyb22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating when your printer doesn't recognize a new toner cartridge. Here are a few steps you can follow to try to resolve the issue with your HP LaserJet Pro M15w printer:

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about a minute. This can help reset the printer's internal memory and possibly clear any errors.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Remove the new cartridge and make sure there is no protective tape or cover that was left on the cartridge. Reinstall the cartridge, ensuring it clicks into place.

Check the Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Double-check that the toner cartridge is the correct model (HP 48A) and that it is compatible with your printer model.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Sometimes dust or debris on the cartridge contacts can prevent the printer from recognizing the new cartridge. You can gently clean the metal chip on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve issues related to cartridge recognition.

Hard Reset:

  • If none of the above steps work, try a harder reset. With the printer turned on, remove the power cord from the back of the printer, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
