HP ENVY Photo 6230 All-in-One Printer

Hello,
I get an error message that there is paper jammed. No paper is jammed but I can see that the white ribbon the back of the printer seems to been deformed/being loose or something. Really tricky to get access to this area, I have to unscrew the whole bottom part I believe.

Anyone have solved similar issue? See attached picture. IMG_6729.jpg

Hi @Snekke,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm really sorry you're facing this issue—it sounds incredibly frustrating to see a paper jam error when there's no jam, especially when you notice that the white ribbon in the back appears loose or deformed. I understand how stressful it can be, especially when disassembly seems daunting.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you might try:

Power Off and Unplug:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it to ensure safety before checking any internal components.

Inspect the Loose Ribbon:

  • Carefully examine the loose white ribbon. This cable is typically involved in sensing paper or conveying signals within the printer.
  • Check for any obvious signs of damage or misalignment.

Reseat the Ribbon (if comfortable):

  • If you’re comfortable with gentle disassembly, consult your printer’s user manual for instructions on how to remove the bottom panel.
  • Once open, verify that the ribbon cable is securely seated in its connector. Gently reposition it if necessary.
  • Reassemble the printer carefully.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • After reassembly, plug the printer back in, turn it on, and perform a hard reset (unplug for about 60 seconds, then power on) to see if the error clears.

Contact HP Support:

  • If the error persists, or if you're not comfortable disassembling the printer, it may be best to visit an authorized service center. They can help address the loose ribbon safely and determine if any part needs replacement.

I hope these steps help. Please let me know if you need further assistance or have any questions—I'm here to support you!

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

I disassembled it now. The white ribbon is a little bit loose but they are fastened in the connectors. What else could it be?
