HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

My HP Cartridge is brand new and I probably only printed 10 pages at most and I still have a low level.

I tried all the suggestions and it still indicates low level.

I can't return the cartridge to Amazon because I'm just over 30 days. I don't know what to do. I have never had a problem in all the years replacing a cartridge. I spent $50 on the cartridge so I'm hoping you can help me

Hi @NYtoAZ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your cartridges!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating this can be, especially with a brand-new cartridge. The ink or toner level depends on the type of prints being made rather than just the number of pages. For example, if you print graphics, images, or documents with heavy ink coverage, the cartridge may deplete faster than expected.

I recommend checking your printer settings to ensure you’re using the most efficient print mode, such as Draft or Eco mode, for regular documents. Also, verifying the estimated ink level through the printer software can sometimes help reset incorrect readings.

Here are a few steps you can follow to potentially resolve this issue:

Remove and Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the cartridge from the printer and reinstall it to ensure that it is seated correctly.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model. Sometimes updates can resolve issues related to cartridge recognition.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth and distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and in the printer. Ensure they are dry before reinstalling.

Printhead Alignment Test: Run a printhead alignment test if your printer supports this feature. Sometimes alignment can resolve ink level detection issues.

I hope this helps.
