My printer will not power on. From what i see online this is a common issue. This printer has an internal power supply. I have replaced the power cord and used a different outlet not on a power strip or UPS.
When i unplug it and plug it back in immediately, it does nothing (will not power up). When i leave it unplugged overnight then plug it back in, it will power up and function normally for a certain amount of time then shuts down. When it shuts off I'm not able to turn it back on and need to leave it unplugged until i need to use it.
Is there a fix for this? its not that old.

Hi @msundst,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your printer that is not powering on.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.
- Perform a power drain on the printer.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall outlet directly, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
- Update the printer firmware by clicking on this link if the printer turns on.
- If the issue still persists, try with an alternate power cable that is compatible with your printer.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day

I have seen this issue a couple of times. I believe that a component in the power supply is overheating. Sadly, HP does not list an available part number for a power supply.
