HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283fdw suddenly started giving error when printing. I had disconnected it from the PC for a night as I worked on the PC.  The HP Smart says it is online. I get an error in the print queue that reads Error-Printing.

So far I have done the following

1) Checked to ensure cable is securely plugged in (I do not use the wifi printing)

2) Rebooted computer

3) Factory reset on printer.

Still no luck.  Any ideas welcome.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw after reconnecting it to your PC. Here are additional steps you can try to resolve the error:

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer is not showing any error messages or warning lights on its control panel.
  • Confirm the printer has sufficient paper and toner.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the existing printer drivers from your PC.
  • Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
  • Install the new drivers following the on-screen instructions.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, Windows updates can cause conflicts.
  • Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date by checking for updates in the Windows Update settings.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • Go to "Devices and Printers" in the Control Panel.
  • Right-click on your printer and select "Printer Properties".
  • Verify that the correct port is selected under the "Ports" tab.

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking printer connections.
  • You might need to add exceptions for the printer software.

Perform a reboot:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect all cables (including power).
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the cables and turn the printer back on.

Check USB Cable:

  • Sometimes the issue could be with the USB cable.
  • Try using a different USB cable or port on your computer.

I hope this helps.
