Hi,

My Mac will not connect to the printer no matter what I do (resetting the Printers & Scanners in system preferences, resetting the printer to default, restarting both devices multiple times, etc etc). It used to connect perfectly before until one day it didn’t and I don’t know why.

I have tried to print out the network config. page and wireless network test report and both say that my printer is connected to the wireless network. My computer is also connected to the same wireless network. I am able to add the printer wirelessly to the Printers & Scanners page, but when I try to print it returns “Printer is not responding”. When I try adding the printer using the printer IP address, nothing gets through - the page doesn’t recognize it, and when I type it in the browser it doesn’t load as well.

I’m at my wits end already, please, please help!!!

Thanks!

A warm welcome to HP Support Community!

Resetting the printer network settings, reconnecting the printer back to the network and then adding compatible driver may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1.) Unplug your modem/router and leave it powered off.

2.) Restart your printer, from the printer control panel,  Setup button (). Select  'Network Setup", select "Restore Network Defaults".

3.) Power off your printer

4.) Reconnect your modem/router and wait for it to re-establish its internet connection.

5.) Power on your printer.

6.) Run Wireless setup wizard on the printer to connect it back to your network.

Once the printer is connected, use the steps below to remove the existing printer driver and add a compatible driver:

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

6.) Try to print.

Let me know  how it goes!

Hi,

I have done all that multiple times already. For some reason, it just doesn't work, and my computer just can't connect to the printer. As I said before, when I check the printer's wireless connection, everything's a 'PASS'.

Hoping for some other solution to the problem if possible. Thanks!

Do you have any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

What's the make and model of your WiFi router?

Do you have 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks enabled on your WiFi router?

Could you check for WiFi interference and also perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results. Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test.

Hi,

I have Kaspersky as my anti-virus software. It has never been a problem before, and before this I've always been able to print wirelessly with the same printer from my Mac.

Not sure about the make and model of my WiFi router because I'm currently staying in a school dormitory.

No Wifi interference. When I perform the ping test, it looks like this:

Ping has started…

PING XXX: 56 data bytes

Request timeout for icmp_seq 0

Request timeout for icmp_seq 1

Request timeout for icmp_seq 2

Request timeout for icmp_seq 3

Request timeout for icmp_seq 4

Request timeout for icmp_seq 5

Request timeout for icmp_seq 6

Request timeout for icmp_seq 7

Request timeout for icmp_seq 8

--- XXX ping statistics ---

10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It looks like there is a 100% packet loss during ping test. Most of the school wireless networks have several IT restrictions, could you check with your school IT if the printer is allowed on the network.
