My Printer is HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 used since Jan 2021 without issue on Apple products.  MacBook Pro Sonomo 14.5 stopped printing and shows printer 'Offline' even though Fax is 'Online'.  Printing from iphone 11 ProMax works fine

Hi @wcmdgm,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 is showing as "Offline" on your MacBook Pro with macOS Sonoma 14.5 while printing from other devices works fine, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your MacBook Pro.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your MacBook Pro, the printer, and your router. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Go to System Settings on your MacBook Pro, select Printers & Scanners, and ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 is listed. If it’s not, try adding it again.

Reset Printing System:

  • In Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers and select Reset Printing System. This will remove all printers and reset the print system. You’ll need to add your printer again after this step.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018. macOS updates might occasionally require updated drivers.

Set Printer as Default:

  • In Printers & Scanners, ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 is set as the default printer.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is not set to Use Printer Offline mode. You can check this in the Printers & Scanners settings on your Mac.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page from the printer’s control panel to ensure it’s functioning properly.

Check for macOS Updates:

  • Ensure your macOS is up to date, as sometimes updates can resolve compatibility issues.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • If your printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure it’s connected to the correct network and try reconnecting it.

If your iPhone can print but the MacBook Pro cannot, it's likely a software or network issue specific to your Mac. Following these steps should help identify and fix the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
