Magenta Fails to Print

macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have to run print head cleaning (all three times) every few days to keep the magenta printing on my printer.  Other colors work fine.  Any one got any thoughts?

Have you tried using an alternate Magenta ink cartridge to check if the issue persists?

 

Update the printer firmware

Go to Setup > Printer maintenance > Update the printer > Check now.

 

Perform step 9 mentioned in this document. This document also helps to resolve any type of print quality issues on the printer.

 

If the issue persists, I'm afraid it is an issue with the printhead of the printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Model HP DeskJet 4674. Magenta fails to print, despite using 2 different brand new tri-color cartridges, plus repeated cleaning cycles... Cyan, Yellow, and Black print properly. Magenta color non-functional. Blotting the face of new ink cartridges with paper towel, indicates all 3 cyan, magenta, and yellow colors present in cartridge. Also cleaning gold contacts with alcohol.  No efforts have resulted to getting magenta color to print.

Additional info:  Magenta printing issue occurs regardless of device ( ipad/iphone w/HP Smart app) or Win10 PC used to print, as well as printer front panel controls.

Also, printer and apps running the latest software/firmware versions.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
