Message states, remove any jammed paper & make sure paper tray is installed properly.  Cannot find any paper jam.  After pushing ok.  Printer tries to go into maintenance mode & stops.  Message states there is problem with the printer or printer system.  Turn printer off & then on.  Contact HP support  0x60000a.  After numerous tries, same thing happens with same code 0x60000a

Hi @Ucantoo

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must be to see the same error code repeatedly even after restarting and checking for paper jams. You’ve already done the right steps by inspecting the tray and attempting multiple restarts, so thank you for that effort.

Let’s go through a structured set of actions that can help clear this error:

Step-by-step actions

Power reset with full disconnect

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Remove the paper tray and any paper loaded.
  • Wait at least 2 minutes before reconnecting the power cord directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reinsert the tray and power the printer back on.

Check paper path thoroughly

  • Open all access doors, including rear access if available.
  • Remove any paper, even small scraps, from rollers and feed areas.
  • Ensure rollers move freely and are not obstructed.

Inspect the paper tray and sensors

  • Confirm the tray is fully seated and aligned.
  • Check that the paper guides are snug against the stack without bending the paper.
  • Remove and reload fresh paper to eliminate misfeeds.

Run printer self-test

  • If the printer reaches the home screen, go to Settings → Printer Maintenance → Print Quality Report.
  • If the error appears before this, proceed to the next step.

Update firmware

  • Connect the printer to your PC via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Open the HP App on Windows → Settings → Printer Update.
  • Install any available firmware updates.

Service mode reset

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord.
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect and restart the printer.

You’ve already shown persistence by trying multiple restarts. If after these steps the error still persists, it points to a deeper hardware fault in the printer’s system board or sensors.
