My Deskjet 3630 connects wirelessly to my Mac Monterey and my Windows 10. The problem started on the Mac. I use this printer for special jobs with special paper and colors rather than standard text. Anyway, from Google Drive I created a three-page document with a clipart image on each page. I got missing lines where there should have been text. I downloaded the document to my Windows 10. There was no improvement. The diagnostic tests I ran had different results in HP Smart Print and HP Print And Scan Doctor. Not only were lines of text missing, but also magenta was not printing. I saw a lot of green. There was no indication of the cartridges running low on ink; but there were frequent losses of connection. The Wi-Fi light did not stay lit. While running tests, there were messages saying that there were jobs waiting to complete when I knew I did not start any. Either I am losing connection while I am trying to print; or something happened where all my ink does not get into the machine. This printer had much use before I acquired it. It might be "on its last legs." I would appreciate any help that is available.

Hi @tightpurchaser,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are facing issues with print quality.
Excellent description and a great diagnosis. It is greatly appreciated.
Try updating the printer firmware. Click here
Also, perform the steps mentioned below if not done already.
Check ink cartridges
- Very low ink levels, using non-HP cartridges, and rough handling can cause print quality issues.
- Replace any non-HP or refilled cartridges with genuine HP cartridges. HP supplies are available from the HP Store and local retailers.
- HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. Go to HP Anti Counterfeiting and Fraud Program for more information.
- Check the ink levels and replace any low or empty cartridges.
- NOTE: The printer features a 'backup mode' that enables printing with one cartridge. Remove the low or empty cartridge to continue printing if a replacement is not available. Depending on the cartridge removed, blacks will not be as dark and color prints will be in grayscale.
- Rough handling of cartridges during transport or installation can cause print quality problems. Wait a few hours for the automatic servicing routine to complete, and then try to print again.
- If a cartridge is bad, replace it. If you have a defective HP cartridge, it might be under warranty. Go to About Original HP Cartridges for page yield and HP Limited Warranty information to see if a cartridge is still in warranty.

Thanks for the post; but I recognize it as a form letter. That canned response offers nothing either new or applicable. Besides, given the length of time it took for anyone to respond, I had already given up on anyone showing interest in the problem.

Fortunately, new reinstalment of both black and tri-color cartridges corrected the printing problems so that I can expect further use of this inkjet printer for a longer while. The remaining problem was reconnecting to my wireless network. Following the insertion of new cartridges, it was as though I had to reconnect anew. Having both diagnostics on both my Mac Monterey and my Windows 10, I do not know why these HP programs work; but it was by running those on my Windows 10 that the printer finally reconnected. I wasn't very hopeful, but a new set of cartridges corrected the lack of all colors and the skipping of black text lines.
