Receiving the dreaded, "Missing or Failed Printhead" message, Error Code Oxc19a0040. HP support chat indicates there is no resolution other than taking it in for repair. Nearest HP authorized service center charges $165 (their hourly rate) just to look at it. It's five years old, has been a great printer, but don't want to spend $165 to be told it's "done." Any suggestions?

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

If you have already performed the steps from the document Error Indicates Faulty Printhead: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04100778  and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/

Hope this helps!

Thanks Echo. You’ve answered my question in the sense that it’s time for a new printer. The authorized HP repair center said it would cost $165 just to diagnose so I am going to chalk it up to having gotten my money’s worth over the past 6 years. Thank you.
