HP OfficeJet 5222 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, HP OfficeJet 5222 All-In-One Printer, Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit)

This printer is almost always either offline or asleep when I send it a print job. IRWIN6 has helped me in the past but the reset of the printer is time consuming (mess around in HP Smart, power off the printer, unplug, replug, power up and try again) and is not something I should have to do every time I want to print something. Does anyone have a simple solution for getting this printer ready to print when I send it a job? I'd really appreciate it. At this point, my next printer won't be HP.

Hi @DaveLeno1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with the constant offline or asleep status of your HP OfficeJet 5222 printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and the network. If you're using a wireless connection, make sure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that the signal is strong.

Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart of the printer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check Power Saving Settings: Verify the power-saving settings on your printer to ensure that it's not going into sleep mode too quickly. You can usually adjust these settings through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues and improve performance.

Reset Network Settings: If you're still experiencing issues, try resetting the network settings on your printer. This will clear any existing network configurations and allow you to set them up again from scratch.

Reinstall Printer Drivers: Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and then reinstall them. Sometimes, corrupted or outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
