HP Recommended

I have a deskjet 2622 and this is the first time the problem has happened.   The ink levels are fine, but it just started printing muddy colors.  Red started out with muddy brown, now greens are mixed in.  I did all the clean cartridges, align cartridges, print quality tests which all come back saying everything is fine.   
in desperation I read I could quickly snap the cartridges out and put them back.  This did not help, in fact seemed to make it worse.  If the ink levels weren't so high, I'd be tempted to replace them with brand new cartridges, but I can't afford the $$ to be wasting ink.

Any other suggestions other than the usual ones that did not help?
