Hi @Progolf1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 2700 series printer is showing as “Busy” and you’re unable to print or clean the print heads. Let’s go through a few steps to clear the busy status and allow you to perform maintenance.

1. Restart Printer and Devices

Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds.

Restart your computer or mobile device.

Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

This often clears temporary communication issues causing the “Busy” status.

2. Cancel Pending Print Jobs

On Windows:

Go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Your HP 2700 → See what’s printing.

Right-click each job and select Cancel.

On Mac:

Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Your HP 2700 → Open Print Queue.

Cancel all pending jobs.

Once cleared, the printer should no longer appear busy.

3. Check Connection

If using USB, make sure the cable is securely connected and not damaged.

If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer and your device are on the same network.

Try a different USB port or reconnect Wi-Fi to refresh the connection.

4. Perform Printer Reset

Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to reset the printer.

Release and turn the printer back on.

5. Clean Print Heads

Once the printer is idle and ready, open the HP Smart app or printer software on your computer.

Navigate to Printer Maintenance → Clean Print Heads.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cleaning.

I hope this helps.
