Solved!

My 3830 printer is printing only at the maximum quality level

HP Recommended
Deskjet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just installed software and driver to support my Deskjet 3830. The printer is connected wireless with my PC (W10). Scan function is perfect. Print function works well but the print quality is set (as default) at the maximum quality level. I need to change the default selecting a lower level of quality (to save the ink) but all quality level shows a small locker icon and is impossible to apply the change. Why all levels are blocked? What I can do to unlock this situation?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Pino

P.S. Sorry for my poor english, I hope I'm understandable

This is in response to your private message.

The shortcuts that display a lock are "standard template" shortcuts.

These cannot be changed in and of themselves.

That means:  You cannot change a locked shortcut and save the changes as the same shortcut.

This is normal behavior.

Refer to the document Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows) under the section Saving preferred print settings as a new shortcut or as defaults for all print jobs for more details.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@Pinodiroma, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand you'd want to change the print quality settings. Refer to the document HP Printers - Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows) for help.

If you're unable to change the settings, it could be a possibility that the features are locked.

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
