My 5 yr old Envy 7155 printer will no longer reboot when I plug it in. It stops on the first screen (see attached photo). Is there a fix or am I looking for a new printer?

Hi @Rick10832,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I looked at the photo you shared: your HP Envy 7155 is stuck on the HP logo with a loading bar during startup. This means the printer is failing to complete its boot sequence.

Step 1: Power Reset

  1. With the printer ON, unplug the power cord from the back.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. If it still freezes on the HP logo, continue below.

Step 2: Try a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds (while unplugged).
  • Plug it back in and power on.

Step 3: Disconnect All Accessories

  • Remove any USB cables, memory cards, or network cables.
  • Restart the printer with only the power connected.

Step 4: Firmware Recovery (If Possible)

  • If the printer shows the HP logo but doesn’t progress, firmware recovery may help:

If None of These Work

This usually indicates a main board failure or corrupted firmware that cannot be loaded. For a 5-year-old printer, repair costs often exceed replacement value. HP recommends:

  • Check warranty status (if you have a Care Pack).
  • If out of warranty, consider the HP Trade-In Program for discounts on a new printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
