Hi @GaryGood1948,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your printer seems to be working fine with test pages and copying but won't print what's on your PC screen, the issue usually lies within the connection between your PC and the printer, or within the software settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Connection

Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your PC. This could be via USB, wired network, or Wi-Fi. If it's a network printer, make sure both your PC and printer are connected to the same network.

2. Set as Default Printer

  • Go to your PC's control panel or settings.
  • Navigate to "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & scanners".
  • Find your HP 6430e printer in the list, right-click on it (or click on it and select "Manage" if using Windows 10/11), and set it as the default printer.

3. Check the Print Queue

  • Open the printer queue by double-clicking on your printer icon in "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & scanners".
  • If there are any stuck jobs, cancel them.

4. Printer Driver Update/Reinstallation

  • Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP 6430e printer model.
  • Before installing the new driver, it might be a good idea to uninstall the current printer driver. Then, install the downloaded driver.
  • Restart your PC and printer after installing the new drivers.

5. Check Print Settings in Application

  • Make sure you're selecting the correct printer when trying to print from your PC.
  • Check if the application you're printing from has specific print settings that might be causing the issue.

6. Try Printing from Another Application

Try printing from a different application to see if the issue is specific to one program. For example, if you cannot print from a web browser, try printing a document from a word processor or a PDF file.

7. Firewall/Antivirus Settings

Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block the communication between your PC and printer. Check the settings to ensure they're not interfering with printing.

8. Print Spooler Service

  • Type services.msc in the Windows search box and press Enter.
  • Scroll down and find the "Print Spooler" service.
  • Right-click on it and select "Restart".

9. Printer Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
