Hi @jrc2825,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Having your printer go offline can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's connected via USB, make sure the cable is securely plugged in. If it's a network printer, ensure that it's connected to the Wi-Fi network and that the Wi-Fi connection is stable.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes, simply turning the printer off and then back on can resolve connectivity issues. Power off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then power it back on.
- Restart Computer: If your printer is connected to a computer, try restarting the computer as well. This can sometimes reset the connection and resolve any communication issues.
- Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer is set to online mode in its settings. You can usually access printer settings through the control panel or printer menu.
- Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. Check for updates to your printer drivers and install them if necessary.
- Check for Paper Jams or Errors: Sometimes, a paper jam or other error can cause the printer to go offline. Check the printer for any error messages or paper jams, and clear them if necessary.
- Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This will erase any custom settings, so proceed with caution. Consult your printer's manual or support documentation for instructions on how to reset it.
By going through these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the issue and get your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 back online.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
