Hi @Wilf30

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that your Deskjet 2600 is not turning on. Since you’ve confirmed that power is going to the printer, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try to get it working again:

1. Check Power Cable and Adapter

Even though you’ve confirmed that power is going to the printer, ensure the power cable and adapter are securely plugged into both the printer and the power source. If you’re using a surge protector or power strip, try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet to rule out any issues with the power strip.

2. Hard Reset

A hard reset can sometimes help reset any internal components that might have gotten stuck:

  1. Unplug the printer from the power outlet.
  2. Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  3. Plug the printer back into the power outlet while leaving it off.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to clear any stored power or potential error state.
  5. Release the button, and then try turning the printer on again by pressing the power button.

3. Inspect the Power Button

Ensure the power button itself is not stuck or malfunctioning. Sometimes, a button can become jammed and not register your press. Gently press the power button to ensure it moves freely.

4. Check for Obstructions

Check the area around the power button or inside the printer for any obstructions, paper jams, or debris that could be preventing the printer from turning on or operating correctly.

5. Check for Blinking Lights or Error Indicators

  • If the printer has any blinking lights or error indicators, note the pattern of the blinking (e.g., rapid blinking, alternating lights) as this could indicate a specific issue. You can reference your printer’s manual for the meaning of any error lights or patterns.

6. Test the Power Supply (for external adapters)

If the Deskjet 2600 uses an external power adapter, there could be an issue with the adapter itself. If possible, try using a different, compatible power adapter to see if the printer turns on.

7. Try the Printer with Another Power Source

If you’re using a surge protector or power strip, try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet. Sometimes, these strips can fail or block power, even if the indicator light is on.

8. Check for Overheating

If the printer was running for a long time or in a hot environment, it might have overheated and shut itself off. Let the printer cool down for 15-20 minutes and then try powering it back on.

I hope this helps.
