I have no problem printing documents (8x11) or 4x6 photos. But I cannot print to 5x7 photo paper. It sounds like something is printing, but the glossy side of the paper comes out blank and there are black roller marks on the back. And yes, I'm putting the paper in upside down. This happens whether I print from the photo tray or the main paper tray and only when printing to 5x7. Any ideas are much appreciated!

Welcome to the HP English Community --

If not done, consider adding the following checkpoints to your list of troubleshooting steps.

If not done - Check that the printer is ready to do its best work:

HP DeskJet, ENVY, OfficeJet Printers - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Next...

Check that the paper is supported - Size, Type, and Weight

The print surface makes a difference -- the printer will (should) print on high-grade glossy photo paper at 250 gsm.

The printer might balk at a "semi-gloss".

Matte surface for paper other than photo paper or plain paper is perhaps supported as Brochure Paper (matte) or possibly Index / HP Card paper.

HP Card is generally not supported unless "card" paper is listed as supported.  HP Card paper is "Index" card paper to 110 lb / 200 gsm.

Brochure paper is typically 180gsm, comes in standard size (Letter / A4), and -- if supported -- is usually a separate paper type selection in the printer, EWS (Embedded Web Server), and during job configuration.

If a paper type is not in the selection list in the printer, EWS, and in the job configuration dialog, that paper type is not supported.

Depending on the printer and the Operating System / version, EWS (Tray and Paper) must be adjusted before the job is configured.

The Photo Tray generally limits both paper size and type.  Check the printer control panel (after changing paper or opening / closing the tray(s) and / or use EWS to view / adjust Tray and Paper settings for main and photo trays.

Job setup differs by application.  HP Smart, for example, includes a Printer Options section where some settings can be checked and adjusted before the content is printed.
