Hi,

My HP ink tank 315 which ran out of ink, is still not printing after adding the ink that was low.

Diagnosis shows there are no errors.

What can I do to get it working

Step-by-Step Fix for HP Ink Tank 315 Not Printing After Refilling Ink

1. Check Ink Levels Visually

Make sure the ink tanks are filled above the minimum line but not overfilled. Overfilling can cause ink flow issues. 


2. Run Printhead Cleaning

This clears any dried ink or clogs that may have formed.

Manual Method:

  • Load plain paper.
  • Press and hold the Start Copy Color button for 3 seconds.
  • A Print Quality Diagnostic Page will print.
  • If the quality is poor, repeat the cleaning using the HP Smart app or printer software.

HP Smart App Method:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Print Quality Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Follow the prompts and print a test page.


3. Perform Ink System Priming (Ink Flush)

If cleaning doesn’t help, you may need to flush the ink system.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Power button, then press: 
    • Cancel button 3 times
    • Start Copy Color button 8 times
  • Release the Power button.
  • The printer will perform a deeper cleaning cycle.


4. Print an Alignment Page

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Go to Print Quality Tools > Align Printheads.
  • Follow the instructions to complete alignment.
