My HP 4025dn powers up but freezes at 6/6 and won't go into ready mode. Please note, I have tried the options of a hard reset, NVRAM reset and so forth. The same thing happens every time.

Hi @caretaker11 , Welcome to HP Support Community!

When an HP CP4025dn printer freezes at stage 6/6 during startup even after a hard reset and NVRAM reset, it generally indicates a problem with the formatter board or corrupted firmware. Stage 6/6 involves crucial processes like disk checks, Partition Manager operations, and reading NV-RAM data.
Here are the recommended steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Disconnect all data cables
Turn off the printer.
Disconnect all network (Ethernet) and USB cables from the back of the printer. Leave only the power cord connected.
Power the printer back on. If the printer then goes to the "Ready" state, the issue is likely caused by corrupt print jobs or a communication error, and you should clear the print queue on your computer/server or update the firmware via USB.

2. Reseat the Formatter PCA
A loose connection can cause startup issues.
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
Remove the formatter board (usually located on the back or side of the printer, where the network and USB ports are). Refer to the service manual for the exact location and instructions.
Carefully reseat the board, ensuring all connections are secure.
Plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.

3. Try to print an engine test (isolation test)
If the printer still freezes, you can try an engine test to determine if the core printer engine is functional, isolating the issue to the formatter board.
Unplug the power cord.
Remove the formatter board.
Plug the power cord back in.
Locate the small hole on the back of the printer (behind where the formatter board was).
Use a small blunt object to press the button inside the hole to generate a test page.
If the engine test page prints, the printer engine is working correctly, confirming the formatter board is faulty and likely needs to be replaced.

4. Reload the Firmware
If you can access the pre-boot menu (which may be difficult if it freezes quickly), you might be able to reload the firmware via a USB drive. This is an advanced step typically performed by a technician.
Download the latest firmware for your specific printer model from the official HP website onto a USB drive.
Access the pre-boot menu during startup.
Follow the on-screen prompts to navigate to the "Download" option and select "USB Thumbdrive".

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
