Hi @Sgl76,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It can be frustrating when your HP Deskjet 3070A suddenly asks for setup cartridges, especially after years of use. This issue can sometimes happen due to a firmware glitch or cartridge recognition error. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to bypass this and get your printer working again.

Hard Reset Your Printer

  • Turn the printer on.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while it is still on.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Reinsert the Cartridges

  • Turn off the printer and carefully remove the current ink cartridges.
  • Clean the contacts of the cartridges with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Allow the contacts to dry, then reinsert the cartridges and turn the printer back on.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check this by downloading HP's firmware update tool from the HP website.
  • Updating the firmware might resolve any cartridge recognition issues.

Perform a Factory Reset

  • Press and hold the Power button.
  • While holding the Power button, press the Cancel button three times and then press the Resume button three times.
  • Release the Power button and wait for the printer to restart.

Try Using HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website.
  • This tool can automatically diagnose and fix many issues, including problems with cartridge recognition.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your answer
I try all point but nothing works 😞

The  HP Print and Scan Doctor say that cartrige have trouble ... but this cartridge are HP cartridge, and not old.
May be I have to buy cartridge but i dont be sure that after my printer works ... so i think i have to buy a printer is more secure.

Have a good day
