HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer

I have an HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer (7155). After a power outage, the printer only fully lit the horizontal progress bar and the far left progress button. At that point, nothing else worked. That is, the power button would not work nor would the touch screen respond. I can get to get that far whenever I un-plug the printer and plug it in again. Otherwise, it remains in the previously described state.

Hi @Harry_LH,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see your HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer stuck after a power outage, especially when the screen is unresponsive and the power button doesn’t work. You’ve already done the right thing by unplugging and replugging it, and I’m here to help you take the next steps.

Steps to Fix the Issue

1. Perform a Full Power Reset

This clears residual power and forces a hardware reinitialization.

  1. Unplug the printer from the wall and the back of the printer.
  2. Wait 2–3 minutes.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds (while unplugged).
  4. Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  5. Turn it on and check if it boots past the logo screen.

2. Remove Ink Cartridges

Sometimes the printer gets stuck trying to initialize the cartridges.

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove all cartridges.
  3. Close the door and try restarting the printer without cartridges.
  4. If it boots, reinsert the cartridges one by one.

3. Check for Firmware Recovery

If the printer briefly responds, try updating the firmware via USB.

4. Factory Reset (if accessible)

If you can access the touchscreen briefly:

  • Go to Setup > Tools > Restore to Factory Defaults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
