Hi @Nedavis197408

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for flagging that—when your printer just sits in “idle” and refuses to print, it can feel like it’s ignoring you on purpose. Let’s wake it up and get it back to work with a few recommended steps. 😊

🛠️ Step-by-Step Fix for HP Envy 7855 Stuck in Idle Mode

1. Power Reset Everything

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Shut down your computer.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Turn everything back on and try printing again.

2. Clear the Print Queue

  • On your PC, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP Envy 7855 and select See what’s printing.
  • Cancel all pending jobs.
  • Right-click the printer again and choose Set as default printer.

3. Check Printer Connection

  • If using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer is connected to the correct network.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel to confirm.
  • If needed, reconnect using the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer.

4. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Go to the HP Envy 7855 driver page.
  • Download and install the latest full-feature software for Windows 11.
  • If the issue persists, uninstall the printer from your PC and reinstall it using the new driver.

5. Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

If your printer still refuses to budge after all that, let me know what connection type you’re using (USB, Wi-Fi, etc.) and whether it prints a test page from the control panel. We’ll dig deeper if needed—I’ve got your back! 💙
