Thanks for the information Kuroi. The power button reset didn’t work. The power drain option did work. The printer came on and allowed me to use it as normal. After shutting down I had to perform the power drain option again successfully. However a third attempt to use this option after shut down never revived the printer. The printer is approximately 10 years old so I’m probably lucky. I’ve purchased another printer. Again, thanks!

Hi @ILKurt,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP OfficeJet 4652 will not turn on. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
a. Check Power Source
- Ensure the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device (like a lamp or phone charger).
- If you’re using a surge protector or extension cord, try connecting the printer directly to the wall outlet.
b. Verify Power Cord & Adapter
- Make sure both ends of the power cord are firmly connected to the adapter and the back of the printer.
- Inspect the cord for any visible damage.
c. Power Button Test
- Press and hold the Power button for 10–15 seconds, then press it once again to try turning it on.
d. Check for Power Indicators
- Look for any lights on the printer, near the power button, or on the adapter.
- Listen for any fan noise or movement inside the printer when pressing the power button.
e. Remove External Devices
- Disconnect all USB devices, external drives, or accessories. Sometimes a faulty peripheral can prevent startup.
f. Perform a Hard Reset
- Unplug the power cord from the wall and printer.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect only the power cord and try turning it on again.
I hope this helps.
