HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer

My HP Officejet 4630 will not go to homescreen. Screen is black and printer is not working. I plugged it into several different outlets. Every time I move it, it turns on but the screen remains black.

Hi @eeestrada9

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Officejet 4630 is experiencing a power or hardware issue, possibly with the printer's display or internal components. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

1. Hard Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in while holding down the power button for about 15 seconds, then release it.
  • Check if the printer turns on and the display works.

2. Check for Loose Connections:

  • Ensure all cables, including the power cord and any other connections, are securely plugged in.
  • If possible, try using a different power cable compatible with your printer.

3. Test with a Different Outlet:

  • Even though you've tried multiple outlets, make sure to try one on a different circuit or in a different room, just to rule out any electrical issues.

4. Firmware Update (if accessible): Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • If the screen comes back on, check for any available firmware updates using the HP Smart app or HP website. However, this will only be possible if the printer becomes operational again.

5. Check for Error Messages:

  • If the screen turns on but remains black, listen for any beeping sounds or check for blinking lights on the printer, which might indicate a specific error code.

6. Internal Hardware Issue:

  • If the screen remains black and the printer is unresponsive after trying the above steps, there could be an internal hardware issue. In this case, the printer might need to be serviced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
