Hi @gjanson ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering a printer failure with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink levels. You can do this through the printer's control panel or its accompanying software on your computer.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the back, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website under the support section for your specific printer model.  Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Clean Printhead: Sometimes, printheads can get clogged, leading to printing issues. Most printers have a utility for cleaning the printhead that you can access through the printer's control panel or software.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Check the printer for any physical damage, such as paper jams or obstructions that may be causing the issue.
