Hi @SaravanaPB,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Tank 720 is not powering on, even after trying the initial troubleshooting steps. Let’s go through a detailed set of checks to figure out what might be happening.

a. Verify Power Source

Make sure the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device (like a lamp or phone charger).

Avoid using surge protectors or extension cords — plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.

b. Check Power Cord and Adapter

Ensure the power cord is firmly connected to both the printer and the wall outlet.

Inspect the cord for damage, cuts, or frayed wires.

If your model has a detachable power adapter, check for unusual heat or damage.

c. Perform a Hard Reset

Unplug the printer from the wall outlet.

Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain any residual power.

Plug the printer back into the wall directly, then press the power button to turn it on.

d. Check for Power Indicators

Look for any LED lights on the control panel or near the power button.

Listen for fan noise or mechanical sounds when pressing the power button.

e. Remove External Devices

Disconnect USB cables, SD cards, or other accessories.

A faulty peripheral can sometimes prevent the printer from powering on.

f. Test with Another Power Cord (if available)

If you have access to a compatible power cord, try using it to rule out a faulty cord.

I hope this helps.
