My HP209 printer has solid orange bar light and is not printing. It is hard wired to my laptop

I assume you have the M209we shown here

That printer connects using USB, Wi-Fi, or an ethernet cable.

Since you stated it is hardwired to your laptop it must be using USB.  is that correct?

Unplug from USB then reset the printer: instructions here

Plug USB cable back in.

You will need the latest HP Smart. It can be obtained from the Microsoft Store.
It is used for setup and diagnostics..

The latest version as of Jun, 2024 is 154.2.1072.0 (USA English). If you do not have this version then go to the Microsoft store, find HP Smart, and click "update". If the button "update" is missing then you need to run WSRESET from the Windows search bar.
