@HuntingtonW, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP9130e Printer Freezes!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP9130e printer frequently freezes, here are several steps you can take to resolve this issue:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
Performing a hard reset erases all the information stored in your printer's temporary memory, forcing it to do a complete scan of the system. Follow these steps:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the AC power adapter.
- Remove any discs from the disc drive.
- Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
- Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as external hard drives and USB flash drives.
- With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter and then turn on the printer.
2. Close Any Applications Causing the Issue
The printer might be freezing due to certain applications causing interference or excessive CPU usage. Follow these steps to close possibly problematic applications:
- Disconnect all external devices from the printer, except for the keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
- Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Look under Processes for applications that have stopped responding.
- Select an application that is not responding and then click End Task.
3. Restart the Printer
If the printer remains frozen, you can try restarting it:
- Press and hold the Power button until the printer turns off.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the power button to turn it back on.
4. Check and Clean Air Vents to Prevent Overheating
Ensure the air vents are not blocked and clean them using compressed air to avoid overheating issues.
5. Run Windows Update
Update your printer's firmware and drivers by running Windows Update.
6. Update Firmware and Drivers with HP Support Assistant
Use HP Support Assistant to find and install the necessary updates:
- Open HP Support Assistant.
- Find your printer under the My Dashboard tab and click Updates.
- Select the listed updates, download, and install them.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
