I have a CM1415fnw, had for many years. Suddenly it cannot successfully boot. Tried to boot up in isolated mode, no success.

System seems to keep restarting and eventually gets stuck on Initializing screen. Left over night....no success.

See that a factory reset could resolve - but user manual does not go through how to perform a factory reset if cannot get to screen menu.

Please help, love this printer.

@ML-YYC, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your HP LaserJet CM1415fnw is having trouble booting up and gets stuck on the "Initializing" screen. This can be frustrating, especially when the usual interface is inaccessible. Here are some troubleshooting steps and solutions to try:

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for 60 seconds and connect the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer.

Check for Paper Jams

A paper jam or obstruction can sometimes prevent the printer from booting properly.

Open all accessible doors and compartments (like the paper tray, back cover, and toner compartments).

Check for any stuck paper or objects.

Ensure that the paper is properly loaded and not causing a blockage.

Update Firmware via USB (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

If the printer's firmware has become corrupted, you may need to reinstall it. However, since the printer is not booting normally, you’ll need a USB flash drive with the correct firmware update.

To update via USB:

Download the latest firmware update from the HP support website: HP CM1415fnw Firmware Download.

Copy the firmware file to a USB drive.

Insert the USB into the printer’s USB port.

The printer should automatically detect the USB and update the firmware. Follow on-screen instructions if possible.

Run HP Smart:

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
