There are multiple issue with HP:

1) Unable to add the printer in HP Smart app easily (customer agent has to do it using 192.168.xxxxx method)

2) Cartridge light blinking i.e. Printer not getting connected with Instant ink web services. 

3) Big Issue: No support from HP Team. I connected with them multiple times and tried to troubleshoot the issue; they could not resolve it; I asked them to escalate the issue, I guess they did; however, no response at all from them after that.

1. Unable to Add Printer in HP Smart App:

  • It's unusual that your printer had to be added using the 192.168.x.x method, but that suggests a network-related issue. If you’re still having trouble, here are a couple of things to check:
    • Check Network Connection: Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or computer. If your printer is connected via Ethernet, ensure your router supports both wired and wireless connections.
    • Reinstall HP Smart: Sometimes the app can get out of sync with the printer. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app, then attempt to add your printer again. Ensure you’re using the latest version of the app.
    • Reset Network Settings on Printer: If your printer has network connectivity issues, try resetting the network settings to defaults and reconnecting it to the Wi-Fi. This can usually be done through the printer’s control panel under Network Settings or Wireless Settings.

2. Cartridge Light Blinking – Instant Ink Connection Issue:

  • The blinking cartridge light usually indicates an issue with the connection to HP Instant Ink services. Here’s how to address it:
    • Check Instant Ink Enrollment: Log into your HP Instant Ink account online and ensure that your printer is enrolled correctly. Sometimes, an issue on the account side (such as a billing issue or an error with the subscription) can cause this.
    • Reconnect Printer to HP Instant Ink: Go to HP Instant Ink Settings on your printer’s control panel and check the status. If you see an option to reconnect, select it. This will prompt the printer to attempt to reestablish communication with HP’s web services.
    • Printer Firmware Update: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. An outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with Instant Ink. You can check for updates in the Printer Settings under Maintenance or Firmware Update.
    • Reset HP Instant Ink Settings: If nothing works, you can try resetting the Instant Ink settings on the printer (this might require signing back into your Instant Ink account on the printer). This can often help refresh the connection.
