My Printer quit working after getting a message that Cyan cartridge depleted. Inserted a new 951XL

HP Officejet Pro working when notified that the Cyan cartridge was out of ink.  Bought replacement at Office Depot HP Brand and inserted to get the same message.  Printer now locked up with continuing message that needs cartridge.  Have gone on line for help but no results.  Have tried every recommendation but still locked up.  Should I just throw this one away and get another brand for replacement?

To check if an HP ink cartridge is genuine, look for a security label on the cartridge, scan the QR code on the label with your phone, and then go to HP's website hp.com/go/ok to verify the serial number on the label; if the label appears tampered or the serial number doesn't validate, the cartridge is likely not genuine.
