I turned my machine off last night after I sent a help email to HP help desk.  When I turned it on to attempt to enter the help message that I received today, I received a new message on my hp office jet printer with a blue screen but a different error code than last night’s blue screen, 005A1654.  Now what?  Is this problem fixable?

@19ch3vy55, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are experiencing a blue screen error 005A1654 on your HP OfficeJet 5742 printer, it suggests that there may be a hardware or firmware-related issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Power Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path.
  • Carefully remove any debris.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that the printer firmware is up-to-date. You can do this by checking the HP website for any available updates for your printer model.

Check Connections:

  • Make sure all cables and connections are secure and properly connected, including the power and USB cables.

Restore Factory Defaults:

  • If possible, access the printer’s menu and perform a factory reset. This option should be used as a last resort, as it will reset all settings to their defaults.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
