I am getting flashing orange exclamation point and flashing white I (information) light and when I print status page it doesn't show an error code just "a problem has occurred and you will be unable to print...:

Any ideas? I've done the usual of unplugging restarting opening and removing and replacing cartridge. And it is connected to wifi

Thx in advance for help!

Thom

@ThomKennon9999, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding MFP M234sdw Printing Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdw shows both the flashing orange exclamation light and the flashing white Information light, that’s the printer’s way of waving its hands to say, “Something is off, but I can’t print safely.”

Here are a few things you can try step by step:

1. Check the toner cartridge & drum area

Pull the cartridge back out, gently rock it side to side (to evenly distribute toner), and make sure the orange protective sealing tape has been fully removed.

Look inside the cartridge slot for any small scraps of paper, tape, or packing material. Even tiny bits can trigger this error.

2. Paper path check

Open all doors and trays, shine a flashlight, and look for stuck or torn bits of paper.

Reseat the paper stack—make sure it’s not overfilled or bent.

3. Firmware reset/update

On the printer’s control panel, hold down the Cancel (X) and Information (i) buttons together for about 5 seconds. This should trigger a printer reset.

If you can connect via the HP Smart app, check if a firmware update is pending. Outdated firmware sometimes triggers odd error states.

4. Connection sanity check

Since you mentioned it’s on Wi-Fi, try printing via USB (if possible). This helps rule out network vs. hardware.

5. Hard reset

Unplug the printer, wait 2 full minutes, press the power button (while unplugged) to drain any leftover power, then plug back in and try again.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
