Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer will not allow scanning.  Will not see the camera even after reloading the software.  It just stopped working.  I see this has been an issue with other users but don't have a fix.  Need help.

Hi @JP6978,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When encountering scanning issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers and software installed for your printer. Visit the HP website, locate the support section, and download the latest drivers and software for your specific printer model.
  • Check Connection: Verify that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless connection, ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network and that there are no connectivity issues.
  • Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, issues with scanning can be related to your computer. Restart your computer to refresh the system and try scanning again.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Ensure that there are no software conflicts on your computer that may be preventing the scanning software from working properly. Close any unnecessary applications and try scanning again.
  • Reset Printer Settings: Resetting the printer to its default settings can sometimes resolve issues. Refer to your printer's user manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to reset your printer.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the scanning issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
